Join us in learning te ao Māori approach to restoration!

Hands On Ecology workshop series is designed for community restoration groups and anyone keen to learn about restoration ecology through a te ao Māori lens. A 3-hour session offers practical skills for restoring private and public spaces, and may include up to 2 hours of walking - please dress appropriately and bring water/snacks.

This session covers:

  • Mana Whenua led regenerative practice

  • Puna - finding the source significance of Puna, Waiora, Wai Māori and how to cause and prevent Waimate

  • Direct seeding leaf litter

  • Riparian habitats 

  • Daylighting streams - learnings to date

  • Water testing - tohu and why we do it

  • Stream ecology - riparian habitats

Registration is essential as participant numbers are limited for health and safety reasons.
