Te Rourou Māpua

Uru Whakaaro and Para Kore ki Tāmaki work collaboratively to support marae across Auckland.  Our kaimahi offer community-led zero-waste workshops that support tino rangatiratanga for whānau, and uphold tikanga and protection for Papatūānuku.

Overall our programmes’ aim to:

Facilitate ongoing workshops and waste-free education series.  We develop teaching resources that support hands-on workshops to strengthen networks within mana whenua, mataawaka that help to develop the kaupapa within Māori communities across Tāmaki.

We identify key aspirations within Marae, whānau and hāpori Māori for ongoing zero-waste initiatives. This involves collaboration with other kaitiaki working towards para kore. Uru Whakaaro and Para Kore ki Tāmaki provide resources for Marae to support resource recovery, re-use, and recycling, through our workshops we

a) reduce commercial and organic waste going to landfill and

b) advocate for alternatives to commercially available products

c) support self-sufficiency in the home and maara.

We love to support education around design and development of infrastructure for hua parakore systems within Marae.
